Coursework

LDT 502: Design and Development of Instruction
This course was centered around the group-based development of an instructional model for a provided design case. In this process, we developed a content and task analysis, learning goals and instructional objectives, a detailed design document, and a mockup of the instructional model.

EDP 540: Learning Theories and Instructional Strategies
The application of learning theories for strategizing and building instructional scenarios was central to this course. We analyzed technological affordances in a case study, and proposed a lesson plan using self-selected learning theories and teaching strategies to address an instructional problem.

LDT 501: Foundations of Learning Design and Technologies
This course provided a history of learning design and technologies. We developed a group-based presentation over an assigned learning theory and its creator, and collaborated to create a website showcasing an innovative technology. The course concluded with a technology use plan proposal.

LDT 506: Evaluation of Learning Systems
One of the most challenging of the program, this course simulated the evaluation process through a group-based evaluation based on a design case. After analyzing sample evaluation proposals, we created our own proposal, developed evaluation instruments, analyzed data, and delivered a final evaluation report.

COE 501: Introduction to Research and Evaluation in Education
Research review was the focus of this course, and involved a literature review-based research paper developed step by step throughout each unit. We created a purpose statement and conducted journal article reviews to explore problems and solutions related to a learning design concept of our choice.

LDT 503: Design of Effective Communications
My favorite of the program, this course explored the use of graphic design for educational purposes. We analyzed designs, and redesigned a self-selected set of presentation slides. The course concluded with the creation of a personal website in which we could house our professional portfolio of design work.

LDT 504: Modalities of Learning
This course involved the creation of computer-based training for online and blended learning. We developed a talking head video in Adobe Express, edited audio in Audacity, created rapid eLearning in Articulate Rise, and built an intensive eLearning training module in Articulate Storyline 360.

LDT 511: Emerging Trends and Technologies for Learning Design
In this course, educational trends and emergent technology were explored. We conducted a BUILDS analysis of an emergent technology, utilized generative AI as a design partner, crafted our own proposed recombinant innovation in a white paper, and developed an emergent technology implementation plan.

LDT 523: Design Principles in Online and Blended Learning
Online and blended learning was central to this course. Active learning techniques were explored through a faculty development presentation, our own instructional design model, and a social presence plan. To conclude, we conducted a case study of a well-executed online or blended learning program of our choice.

LDT 593: Applied Project
This intensive final course encompassed the entire learning design process. We created an instructional program for a sponsor of our choice, complete with a project pitch, statement of work, context analysis, project justification document, functional prototype, pilot program, and an evaluation report of the pilot.
